Cathy Aron

Cathy Aron – Executive Director of the Picture Archive Council of America (PACA)

Cathy Aron is the Executive Director of the Picture Archive Council of America (PACA). She has been actively involved in the stock photo industry for over 30 years and was formerly the president of Photo Network Stock, a very successful general stock photo rights managed archive, which is now owned by Grant Heilman Photography. Cathy has been a speaker/panelist for numerous industry meetings and events and has presented classes on copyright protection at several colleges in California. Cathy was also a founding leader of the Imagery Alliance, a coalition of professional visual arts trade associations formed to advocated and educate for the protection of copyright and related interests.

Michelle Bogre

Michelle Bogre – Associate Professor of Photography at Parsons

Michelle Bogre is an educator, documentary photographer, copyright lawyer and author of Photography As Activism. She is also the author of thecopyrightcorner.org, a website designed to make copyright law accessible for photographers, students and photography faculty. She is a frequent speaker on issues of copyright and fair use as it pertains to photography. She has launched the Parsons Institute for Intellectual Property (PIIP) at The New School, to bring best practices in copyright and copyright education to art and design schools.

Michelle is a regular contributor to American Photo and American Photo On Campus magazines. One of her photographs was featured in a group show at the Lawrence O’Brien Gallery in the National Archives in Washington, D.C. and two photographs are permanently in that collection. Her work was also featured in Beauty Culture, a group show at the Annenberg Space for Photography in Los Angeles. She is currently working on a long-term documentary project on family farms.

Margie Bowles

Margie Bowles – Founder, President and Creative Director of 1400 Words

Margie Bowles is founder, president and creative director of 1400 Words, a Dallas-based marketing communications agency. Included in the New Millennium Edition of Who's Who of North American Executives and Professionals, Margie has also been honored over the years by The New York Art Directors Club, The Effie Awards, Communication Arts magazine, The International Advertising Festival of New York, National Advertising and Marketing Association (NAMA), the Dallas Society of Visual Communications, the Dallas Ad League, the Art Directors Club of Houston, the San Diego Communications Arts Group, and the Ad Club of San Diego.

Margie serves on the Art Institute of Dallas BFA Professional Advisory Committee and the board of the DSVC Foundation. She is the past president of the Dallas Society of Visual Communications, past editor of its monthly newsletter Rough, and a frequent guest lecturer at area colleges.

Steven Diamond

Steven Diamond – Founder, Executive Director of Photography at Scholastic Inc

Steven Diamond is Executive Director of Photography at Scholastic Inc, a Fortune 1000, global children's publishing, education and media company.

Steven has over twenty-five years experience with every aspect of visual content for books, magazines, video and TV, toys, installations, events and other entertainment-oriented products, services and site-specific installations.

Steven is an acknowledged expert in the fields of fine art, art history, photography, design, painting, and sculpture, with extensive experience of the collaborative creative process, licensing and intellectual property issues.

Patrick Donehue

Patrick Donehue – Photographer

Patrick Donehue has specialized in the production, marketing and management of stock photography since 1982. Well known as an industry expert, Patrick is a frequent lecturer on the creative and business aspects of stock imagery. He is the former president of the Picture Archive Council of America (PACA) and sits on the executive board of the Picture Licensing Universal System (PLUS). He is also a member of the President’s Council at the International Center of Photography (ICP) and is on the Advisory Board of Microsoft’s Icons of Imaging. Patrick serves on the faculty of the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, and has been an instructor at the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops since 1998. He has most recently served as the VP/Chief Photographer of Bill Gates’s Corbis Corporation. Prior to joining Corbis, Patrick was a VP/Director of Photography at Allstock, Tony Stone Images and Getty One (now Getty Images).

A professional photographer since 1977, Patrick has photographed in over 20 countries and his images have been used worldwide by clients such as General Electric, Motorola, Nissan and Jim Beam. He has taught workshops and seminars in major markets throughout the world including Japan, China, France, Germany, Italy, U.K. and Singapore. As a consultant, Patrick specializes in business plan development, portfolio creation, and establishing image distribution networks for photographers and photo agencies.

Shannon Fagan

Shannon Fagan – Photographer/ President of the Stock Artists Alliance

Shannon Fagan first became interested in photography during days spent in high school in Memphis, Tennessee. After pursuing photography and fine arts studies at The University of Memphis, he moved to New York City in 2000, and has worked in lifestyle and portrait imagery since. In 2002, Photo District News recognized his work in PDN's 30 photographers to watch, for a personal series of photographs that he completed on Doormen at work on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

Shannon's work has been published in the Communication Arts, Photo District News, Print's Regional Design, and American Photography Annuals. Awards include a Gold Addy in the NY Addy Awards, a Shortlist Clio Award, and an NEA Creative Grant together with the Houston Center for Photography. Clients include The New Yorker, Newsweek, The New York Times, Discover, and Business week. He has also completed commissioned ad work for BMW, The United Way, Verizon, Nikon, and Intel. He is President of the Stock Artists Alliance.

Gordon Kaye

Gordon Kaye – Editor, Publisher, Graphic Design USA (GD USA)

After a 10 year career as an intellectual property and communications lawyer representing ad agencies, publishers and broadcasters – including a stint as an inhouse attorney at NBC Television Network (working on among other things Saturday Night Live) – Gordon Kaye joined Graphic Design USA in 1990.

Gordon is now Editor and Publisher of Graphic Design USA, also known as GDUSA, and its offshoots, including the gdusa.com website, two monthly e-newsletters, an online shopping guide for creatives and four national contests covering graphic, packaging, website and corporate inhouse design. Graphic Design USA was founded in 1963 as the business-to-business magazine for creative professionals.

Lynn Martin

Lynn Martin – YPA Executive Director 2009-10

For more than twenty-five years Lynn Martin has worked with the industry’s most influential photographers, agencies and foundations, including Getty Images, Corbis, Aurora Photos, the Aperture Foundation and, most recently, Young Photographers Alliance as its first Executive Director. A former VP of Photography at Image Bank and VP of Creative Strategy at Jupiterimages, her expertise encompasses arts and business partnerships, strategic analysis, business development and educational programming, as well as editing, licensing, international distribution of content and media archive management. She has served on the Executive Board and as VP of the Picture Archive Council of America (PACA), and holds an MFA from Southern Methodist University’s Meadows School of the Arts.

Scott McKiernan

Scott Mc Kiernan – Founder, CEO, ZUMA Press

Scott Mc Kiernan is a media industry pioneer and leader. Mc Kiernan's dynamic leadership of his ZUMA Press family of companies, as well as decades of wide-ranging experience in photojournalism have proven to be instrumental in establishing one of the largest editorial photo agencies in the world and the first digital age picture agency, ZUMA Wire. Recent ventures include ThePicturesofTheDay.com and the Kona Gallery, the first pure photojournalism gallery.

Mc Kiernan's design work, picture editing and photography have won numerous major awards, and ZUMA's roster of stellar top photojournalists have won every major photo industry award, including Pictures of The Year (POYi), Best of Photojournalism (NPPA's BOP), Communications Arts, World Press Awards as well as a few Pulitzers.

Mc Kiernan was a judge of the 2010 POYi contest, and of many previous photo contests, including NPPA BOP.

Gail Mooney

Gail Mooney – Co-Partner, Kelly/Mooney Productions

Gail Mooney is co partner of Kelly/Mooney Productions, a visual communications company based in the NYC metropolitan area. Gail has over 30 years of experience in still photography, shooting for international magazines, corporations, institutions and advertising agencies. Her work has been published in National Geographic Traveler, Smithsonian, Travel & Leisure, Endless Vacation, Islands, Communication Arts and Time/Life publications. She has also worked on numerous travel and tourism accounts as well as produced still imagery and video for many Fortune 500 companies.

Gail is a Director on the Executive Board of ASMP and is Chair of the Motion/Video Committee. She is also co-founder of the ASMP video listserv.

Eugene Mopsik

Eugene Mopsik – Executive Director, American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP)

Eugene Mopsik, who took up his appointment as executive director of the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP) six years ago, has a long and distinguished record with the trade association. A successful Philadelphia corporate/industrial photographer Mr. Mopsik served on ASMPs board for many years, including a term as president, 2000-2001.

As ASMP executive director, he has been involved in discussions with the Nielsen Corp., Getty Images, the New York Times regarding their freelance contracts, and worked to create new agreements between photographers and the American Institute of Architects (AIA) regarding the rights to images submitted for various AIA competitions. Recently he has also been very involved with the creation of strategy for the congressional discussions related to Orphan Works legislation along with overseeing educational programming for ASMP. Beyond the day-to-day management of ASMPs operations, Mr. Mopsik develops long-range strategy to maintain ASMPs position as the premier trade association for publication photographers.

Erin Moroney

Erin Moroney – Founding Director of Axiom Photographic Agency / Chair of Young Photographers' Alliance UK

Immediately after graduating from university in 1995, Erin Moroney moved from Boston, MA to London. The following year she started running Axiom Photographic Agency. Erin was initially hired to represent the work of two photographers, but she quickly started to take on new work, creating the Axiom library. Erin single-handedly amassed and edited the archive, developed the brand and marketing strategy, and secured the client base. Over the past 15 years, Axiom has become one of the top travel reportage picture libraries in the country, supplying images to leading editorial, corporate, advertising, and design clients worldwide. Axiom also acts as a commissioning agency for commercial assignments.

For the last several years, Erin has been on the judging panel of Travel Photographer of the Year.

Erin is the founder and chair of the UK Young Photographers’ Alliance.

Virginia Morrison

Virginia Morrison – Executive Director, Society of Photographic Education (SPE)

Virginia Morrison is Executive Director of the Society for Photographic Education (SPE), a non-profit membership organization that seeks to promote a broader understanding of the photography in all its forms, and to foster the development of its practice, teaching, scholarship and criticism.

Virginia's career choices reflect her passion for art and her talent for management. Some highlights include teaching photography and art at Hawken School, Director of Career Services at Cleveland Institute of Art (CIA), and several transformative positions at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. She has always been involved with student advocacy in educational contexts and has enjoyed accomplishments that include a successful NIH Training grant for CWRU's department of pharmacology, the Ohio Governor's Award for Excellence in Art Education, and CWRU's MPH Program accreditation by the Council on Education in Public Health.

Hans Neleman

Hans Neleman – Founder, Win-Initiative, Photographer

Dutch-born, American photographer, Hans Neleman started his photography career shooting advertising assignments in New York and Europe. His portraits and personal still lifes are recognized in the commercial and fine art arenas. He has published three photography books: Moko – Maori Tattoo, Silence, andNight Chicas. Having attained 80-plus international awards and honors, Neleman then created his own alternative stock agency, WIN-Initiative. WIN's instant success enabled Neleman to branch out and give back to the photography community. Through WIN, Neleman hosts a creative driven lecture series called Take 5ive, sponsors the ongoing International photography competition, 10 BEST 10, and has created his own online photography magazine, WINk. His most recent contribution is a free iPhone app, iD RELEASE, which allows filmmakers and photographers to obtain model releases with their iPhone, iTouch and iPad.

Lindsey Nicholson

Lindsey Nicholson – Photo Consultant

Lindsey has worked at some of the biggest stock houses in the industry, starting at The Stock Market Photo Agency (now part of Corbis). She was then recruited by Index Stock Imagery (now part of Photolibrary) where she played an integral part in collection acquisitions and catalog design and production. Lindsey then joined ImageState as Director of Photography helping to integrate several recently acquired collections. In 2004, when Wireimage decided to expand their offering into a commercial stock library, they looked to Lindsey for her knowledge of the market and ability to work closely with photographers to create strong images. Most recently Lindsey spent three years at Jupiterimages where she managed and produced images for two royalty-free collections. Currently Lindsey is a freelance photo consultant working with prestigious clients, including Doug Menuez, Jack Hollingsworth and DesignPics Inc.

Veronika Roux

Veronika Roux-Vlachova – Consultant, Media Professional

Veronika Roux-Vlachova is a consultant and media professional. Her experience includes Business Development Director for Stock that Doesn't Suck and Content Development Executive for Masterfile Corporation. Earlier, she served as business analyst on Wall Street. Today, she works with photographers and images collections in content development and distribution of their images for commecial and fine art markets. In addition, she works for Toff Systems, a software development company, in helping photographers and photography related organizations to find the best technology solutions.

Jill Waterman

Jill Waterman – Photographer, Editor of PDNedu / ASMP Bulletin

Jill Waterman, a New York City-based photographer, writer and media professional, is editor of PDNedu, The ASMP Bulletin and other publishing, education and event projects with PDN Custom Media & Events. Her career background includes more than fifteen years as a stock photography producer, art director, photo editor and account executive. A skilled portfolio reviewer, workshop instructor and lecturer on photography, in 2008 Waterman's illustrated book Night and Low Light Photography was published by Amphoto, a division of Random House. Her own photographic work includes the New Year's Eve Project, a long-term documentation of New Year celebrations with an international scope.

Nancy E. Wolff

Nancy E. Wolff – Attorney, Cowan, DeBaets, Abrahams & Sheppard LLP

Nancy E. Wolff is a member of the entertainment law firm of Cowan, DeBaets, Abrahams & Sheppard, LLC, located in New York and California. Ms. Wolff specializes in intellectual property law and digital media law. Clients include the Picture Archive Counsel of America, Inc. (PACA), the PLUS Coalition, stock photo libraries, individual photographers, authors, illustrators, designers, publishers and digital media companies. Ms. Wolff counsels clients in copyright, trademarks, licensing and contract law, rights of publicity and privacy and libel.

Ms. Wolff is a frequent speaker throughout the United States and Europe on copyright, new technology and licensing. In 2007 she published her book entitled "The Professional Photographer's Legal Handbook" with Allworth Press and PACA. She was awarded the 2007 ASPP Picture Professional of the Year.

Ms. Wolff is a Trustee and Assistant Secretary of the Copyright Society of U.S.A., and is the current Chair of the American Bar Association IP Section 303 on Copyright Office Affairs and a member of the ABA Copyright Reform Task Force. She was a member of Section 108 Study Group convened by the Library of Congress and charged with updating the Copyright Act.
